This is the second “full length” Chromo Valdez release. The history that has led to this release started around 1994 when I was touring with my band in Germany and a friend loaned / gave me his techno beat box [Quasimidi Rave-O-Lution 309] sequencer so I could take it back to the US. I had recently purchased a Korg digital 8 track recorder for demoing songs and the like and I decided to try some beat oriented stuff. It was then as it is now that I start with a beat and simply build up instrumentation around it, usually starting with a chord progression played on piano and then adding “strings”, synthesizers, bass etcetera. My earlier stuff had more soloing and improvisation which I liked at the time but I’m not doing it as much now. These days I’m trying to create loops or segments, sometimes more melodical, sometimes more ambient that can interact with each other and fade in and out of each other. I will continue on this path of making and discovering through experimentation and I hope you’ll stay with me.
